Day 20: Living With Eternal Purpose

Scripture

Colossians 3:1-2 – “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Prayer Prompt

“Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us in Colossians 3:1-2 that our hearts and minds are to be set on things above, not on earthly things. Help us to live with an eternal perspective, understanding that our true purpose is found in You. Free us from the distractions of this world that pull our focus away from Your kingdom. Teach us to seek Your will and align our daily lives with Your eternal purposes, knowing that our identity and hope are secure in Christ. Empower us to live in a way that reflects Your love and glory, as we store up treasures in heaven.”

Reflection

As you go about your day, remember that your true identity and purpose are not found in the temporary things of this world, but in the eternal promises of God. Colossians 3:1-2 invites us to set our hearts and minds on things above—on Christ and His kingdom. Today, take a moment to pause and ask yourself: Are my thoughts and actions aligned with God's eternal purposes? Whether at work, with family, or in your community, let your choices reflect the reality that your life has lasting significance in God’s plan. Seek His kingdom first, and trust that everything else will fall into place as you live with eternity in mind.

Application

Today, take a few moments to identify one area of your life where your focus tends to drift toward temporary, worldly things—whether it’s your job, personal achievements, relationships, or material pursuits. Now, consciously shift your focus. Ask God how you can use that area for His eternal purposes. For example, if you’re at work, consider how you can be a light to those around you by reflecting Christ in your attitude, integrity, and kindness. If you’re spending time with family or friends, think about how you can encourage them toward deeper conversations about faith and eternity. Whatever it is, make an intentional effort today to align that part of your life with God’s eternal plan. Keep reminding yourself that every moment, no matter how small, has eternal significance when done for God’s glory.
