Preschool
Class Overview
Before Service
Greeting - interaction with parents and kids, remember to always greet with a smile and make the child’s arrival smooth and comfortable.
Please make sure each child’s name tag indicates the correct class.
Until service starts, sensory bins/ early arriver activities are available.
During Service
We will worship, hear a story, and spend time in stations. Kids thrive in structure and order brings peace! This environment invites the presence of the Lord into the room!
Come prepared to introduce kids to Jesus each week!
You can see the order of service and lesson on Planning Center under “Files,” but a printed order of service (schedule), a printed copy of the lesson, and supplies will be ready each Sunday for the lesson in your classroom’s designated space.
Please do your best to complete the activities provided and follow the service flow. This won’t always happen in kid’s classes but we want it to be our goal every week!
Dismissal
Check ALL tags, and compliment kids (if a corrective conversation is needed contact the pastor of the area ahead of time).
If the parent does not have a security tag to pick up they must fill out a yellow form and you will take a picture of their ID to send to the Pastor of your area immediately. Child can then be released to their parent, IF there is no concern.
If there is cause for concern, please let the pastor know that their presence is needed and have the parent wait for the pastor of the area to come and release the child.
In the future, dismissal of first service and arrival of second may occur simultaneously. Please make sure kids are signing-in and getting checked out correctly.
Help make the transition easier by being to class 15 minutes prior to start time and helping clean up and prepare supplies for the second service. Be sure to follow clean up procedures.
Additional Policies and Procedures
Bathroom Policy- Only an adult woman (18 yrs+) can take kids to the restroom. Please call the point person to help with this process.
Crying Policy- If a child cries for 10 minutes, or is inconsolable, please use the number on their tag to contact the parent. Simply text, (“Hi this is (NAME), you are needed in the (NAME OF CLASSROOM) ”) If there is no response, then call. If there is still no response let a children’s pastor know so they can locate the parent.
No child can be taken out of the room by a volunteer, unless they are part of the buddy program and have the signed permission form completed by the parent.
If a parent wishes to come into the class, simply state that they are welcome to take their child to the Mother’s room or main lobby. We can only allow volunteers into the classrooms who have been scheduled and background checked.
Discipline Policy
We operate with a 3-warning policy for rebellion.
We warn and redirect the child to change their behavior
If we have to address it again, we place the child in timeout for no more than 2 minutes.
Have a conversation with the child, address the wrong behavior, verbally forgive them, then invite them back to class to have fun and obey.
If the behavior is not corrected, please contact the area pastor, who will then contact the parent.
Please support and follow the directions from the lead teacher in the classroom. They can help give you guidance as you are learning the routines.
o Examples of support: Sit with the kids during the lesson, encourage interaction, lovingly redirect, help with supplies, help with structures such as bathroom breaks and discipline.
