Maanami’s Story
“On Saturday, August 8, 2020, I suffered a traumatic injury that resulted in a complete ACL tear, MCL tear and a complex tear to my meniscus. The injury was so grave I was in an immobilizer (straight leg brace) and on crutches, often needing the use of a wheelchair when seated to keep my leg fully extended. My range of motion was significantly reduced, and I could not stand or walk without assistance nor drive for the next six weeks. Several weeks of physical therapy were needed just to get my knee in operable condition.
On Sunday, August 23, 2020, I attended Renew Life Church for the first time, and I quietly snuck into the dimly lit Cole Theater during worship. Pastor Cody got up mid-worship and said that there was someone in here who was experiencing knee pain and not to leave without being prayed for. I raised my hand and quickly realized my hand was the only hand raised. Those nearby gathered around me laying my hands on me and on my knee in agreement with Pastor Cody's prayer for my healing. People in my new church family would lay hands on me and pray for every week after that.
After much prayer, prophecy and physical therapy, I had surgery on Thursday, November 19, 2020 which included a complete ACL reconstruction and a meniscectomy. Even after surgery, I had again lost my range of motion to a great degree. For the second time, I was unable to stand or walk without assistance (often needing a wheelchair) or drive for another six weeks!
On Sunday, January 6, 2021, Pastor Keith got up during worship and stated that he believed "God wanted to do something...and to heal some people." He called out those with knee pain and those near anyone with their hand up to go lay hands on that person and pray. A myriad of people surrounded me, prayers flooded my ears and hands uplifted me. As people were praying, I felt the strong urge to walk. I put my crutches down and began walking toward the front of the church. When Kendra, my friend and prayer team member asked about my pain, I suddenly realized that I had none! I wept and rejoiced over what God was doing in me at that very moment.
The following Wednesday, January 9, 2021, I went for my second post-op. My surgeon jostled my knee and quickly said that I "could lose the crutches and full leg brace immediately"; that my knee was strong and I didn't need either anymore. As of Wednesday, March 24, 2021, I am still without either and am now jogging for a few minutes at a time at a pace of 4.5 mph on the treadmill. God healed my knee as He promised He would, and I continue to walk, jog and soon will run in my healing!”
