“Walkers” Class

Class Overview/Responsibilities

Before Service

  • Greeting - Remember to always greet with a smile and make the child’s arrival smooth and comfortable.

  • Please make sure each child’s name tag indicates the correct class.

  • Please prepare snacks and water in Dixie cups for snack.

  • Until service starts, toys are available to play with.

During Service

  • We will listen to worship music, look at board books about Jesus, and pray over our walkers. Kids thrive in structure and order brings peace!  This environment invites the presence of the Lord into the room!

    • Come prepared to introduce kids to Jesus each week!

    • You can see the order of service and lesson on Planning Center under “Files,” but a printed order of service (schedule), a printed copy of the lesson, and supplies will be ready each Sunday for the lesson in your classroom’s designated space.

    • Read the board books to the kids and talk about the pictures in the books.

    • Pray over every child in the room.  This might take place during diaper changes or snack time, there will be a scripture available to pray over them each month!

Dismissal

  • Check and remove ALL tags, and compliment kids (if a corrective conversation is needed contact the pastor of the area ahead of time).

    • If the parent does not have a security tag to pick up, they must fill out a Yellow Form and you will take a picture of their ID to send to your pastor immediately. Child can then be released to their parent, IF there is no concern.

      • IF there is cause for concern, please let the pastor know that their presence is needed and have the parent wait for the pastor to come and release the child.

    • Dismissal of first service and arrival of second may occur simultaneously. Please make sure kids are being signed-in and getting checked out correctly.

    • Help make the transition easier by being to class 15 minutes prior to start time and helping clean up and prepare supplies for the second service. Be sure to spray the toys with a toy cleaner.

Additional Policies and Procedures

  • Diaper Changing Policy- Only an adult woman (18 yrs+) can change diapers.

  • Crying Policy- If a baby cries for 10 minutes, or is inconsolable, please use the number on their tag to contact the parent. Simply text, “Hi this is [NAME], you are needed in the [NAME OF CLASSROOM]” If there is no response, then call. If there is still no response let a children’s pastor know so they can locate the parent.

  • No child can be taken out of the room by a volunteer.

  • If a parent wishes to come into the class, simply state that they are welcome to take their child to the Mother’s room or main lobby. We can only allow volunteers into the classrooms who have been scheduled and background checked.

  • Please support and follow the directions from the lead teacher in the classroom. They can help give you guidance as you are learning the routines.
