Day 18: A Life of Worship
Scripture
Psalm 29:2 – "Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness."
Prayer Prompt
“Heavenly Father, we come before You today in awe of Your greatness and holiness. As we reflect on Psalm 29:2, we are reminded of the glory that is due Your name. You are worthy of all praise, honor, and worship. We ask that You help us to live lives that ascribe to You the glory You deserve, not just in our words but in every action, decision, and attitude. Teach us to worship You with sincerity and reverence, not just in moments of worship, but in every part of our day. May we reflect Your holiness in how we live and may our hearts be continually attuned to Your presence. Help us to offer our lives as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You.”
Reflection
Psalm 29:2 reminds us to ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name and to worship Him in the splendor of His holiness. This verse challenges us to view worship as more than just singing songs or attending church—it calls us to honor God in every moment of our lives. As we reflect on His holiness, we’re invited to live in such a way that every action, conversation, and decision gives glory to Him. Today, consider how you can make even the ordinary moments an act of worship. Whether it’s showing kindness to others, working with integrity, serving, let every part of your day reflect the splendor of God’s holiness. Worship is not a task but a way of being, and today is another opportunity to live in awe of who God is, letting His glory shine through you.
Application
Begin by making a list of ten or more names of God found in the Old Testament. Use resources like the Bible or trusted websites to help you gather these names. Some examples include:
Elohim – God, Creator, Mighty and Strong
El Shaddai – God Almighty
Jehovah-Jireh – The Lord Who Provides
Jehovah-Shalom – The Lord Our Peace
Once you’ve created your list, take time to personally declare these names back to God. For example, “God, You are Jehovah-Jireh. You are my provider…” Let each name remind you of His character, His power, and His work in your life.
Next, make a separate list of names for Jesus. Consider titles like:
The Good Shepherd
The Author of Life
The Lion of Judah
The Light of the World
Now, return to Him in worship by saying these names back to Him, praising and adoring Him for who He is. Allow yourself to linger in awe as you reflect on each title, making each declaration personal. Take your time to worship Him for His greatness, His love, and His divine purpose for your life.
