You play such an important role and we want you to be prepared and empowered to do a great job!

Below are some of our signature reminders that all our volunteers abide by, so please review them!

  • Please always fill out a name tag to wear. This helps parents know who the leaders are. Feel free to wear an RLKids t-shirt if you want, but it is not mandatory.

  • We would love for you to join us for our pre-service meeting each week! This is a time to join together by aligning our faith and taking communion over our area. If you are unable to attend, please be in your class 15 mins prior to the beginning of service and stay there until all children have been picked up. The time and location for your pre service meeting will be noted in your monthly scheduling email.

Basic policies for all kids:

  • Your pastor will communicate with you through email, text, and possibly an app of the children’s pastor’s choosing. Please read the messages so you feel prepared and encouraged to impact our kids!

  • We require a minimum of 2 leaders in the room at ALL times. NEVER be the only Volunteer in the room. If you need assistance for any reason, please let your pastor know.

  • Every child must be checked in with a name tag.

    • Name tags give us vital information such as, parent phone number, classroom location and any known allergies. We must keep safety a priority and always have a person to contact for every child.

  • If parents arrive after Check-In is closed, they will be encouraged to come back next week but cannot come into the class without a name tag. Please contact your pastor if you have any issues with this procedure.

  • As children arrive, write their name, the ID number from their name tag, as well as any additional information, such as, medical needs, photography restrictions, buddy program etc. on the roster located in each room.

  • If you need to contact a parent for any reason during service, let the children’s pastor know who you need and why  you need them. Then text the number on the name tag saying, (“Hi this is (NAME), you are needed in the (NAME OF CLASS) classroom.”) If it is a discipline issue the children’s pastor will have the conversation with the parent.

    • Every name tag must be checked at dismissal.

o   If the parent does not have a security tag to pick up, they must fill out a Yellow Form, and you will take a picture of their ID to send to your pastor immediately. The child can then be released to their parent, IF there is no concern.

*IF there is cause for concern, please let the pastor know that their presence is needed and have the parent wait for the pastor of the area to come and release the child.

  • Bathroom policy- Only an adult woman (18 yrs+) can walk a child to the “Kid’s Only” restroom or change a diaper.

    • Use the colored walkie talkie to call the Point Person to take kids to the restroom.

    • Children cannot leave a classroom, except to use the restroom. The only exception to this is if the child is part of the Buddy Program and the parent has signed for permission.

  • Please support and follow the directions from the lead teacher in the classroom. They can help give you guidance as you are learning the routines.

  • One adult leader will be responsible for a black radio. They will be responsible for radioing for help if needed. Radios will be dispersed before class begins.

  • Every classroom will also have a colored radio to use when something is needed in the kid’s area that is not an emergency.  Please use these to call for the point person if a child needs to be taken to the restroom, a parent needs to be called, or supplies are missing.

  • If you do not get either of the radios, please let the pastor know.

  • If an incident occurs where a parent is notified, please notify the children’s pastor through text and  fill out the Incident form (found in the clipboards).  The parent and children’s pastor will sign the form, please be sure to hand it to the children’s pastor after class to be filed.

  • Only youth volunteers that have been scheduled are allowed in the classrooms unless a children’s pastor gives permission. All children must be in their appropriate aged class or in the main service with their parents.

  • In case of an emergency, please refer to the Emergency Procedures for your campus.

  • Please make sure that information is always passed on to a pastor. Whether that is information about a student, family, or leader, please bring it to your pastor.
